If you’ve ever walked out of a facial with glowing skin and thought, How do I get my skin to look like this all the time? You’re asking the right question.
It’s also one of the first things new clients want to know before they book. Which makes sense. You want to know what you’re signing up for, both in time and in budget.
So here’s our answer.
For most skin concerns, you’ll notice a difference after your first facial. But real, lasting change usually happens somewhere between four and six treatments, spaced about three to four weeks apart. That puts most clients about three to five months out from the results they came in for.
Some concerns move faster. Some take a little more patience. And years of sun exposure or breakouts aren’t something anyone can undo in a single appointment.
Here’s what that timeline usually looks like.
Your First Facial: Getting to Know Your Skin
Your first facial does two jobs. It gives your skin a fresh start, and it gives your esthetician a chance to see how your skin actually behaves.
How hydrated is it? How much oil does it produce? How does it respond to extractions? Does it flush quickly, and how fast does it calm back down?
You’ll leave looking brighter, and that glow is real. It’s also partly temporary, since a lot of it comes from increased circulation, exfoliation, and hydration. Enjoy it. Just know it’s the starting line, not the finish.
Facials Two and Three: Building Your Plan
This is where your treatment plan really starts to take shape. Now that your esthetician knows what your skin can tolerate, your treatments can get more targeted.
Depending on what you’re working on, that might mean adding a chemical peel, microneedling, dermaplaning, oxygen therapy, or a glo2facial.
This is also where a lot of people give up, because progress here is quieter. Your skin turns over roughly every 28 days, and a little slower as we get older, so the work we do at your second appointment often doesn’t show up until closer to your third.
We know it’s hard to wait. But this is the stretch where your results are actually being built.
Facials Four Through Six: Seeing the Results
By now, you should start seeing the changes you came in for. That might look like smaller-looking pores, a more even skin tone, smoother texture, fewer breakouts, or products that seem to work better than they used to.
Discoloration tends to fade gradually rather than all at once. That’s one reason your esthetician may take photos along the way. When you see your skin in the mirror every day, it’s easy to miss how far it has come.
What Can Change Your Timeline?
Every skin concern moves at its own pace.
Concerns like dehydration, dullness, congestion, and rough texture often improve noticeably within one to three treatments.
Melasma, deeper acne scarring, and long-term sun damage usually take more patience. Active acne is its own category, too. Instead of a standard facial series, acne typically responds best to a structured program like our four-to-six-month Acne Bootcamp.
And some concerns need a different tool altogether. Loss of firmness, broken capillaries, and stubborn pigment often respond better to laser or microneedling than to facials. Part of your consultation is us telling you when a facial isn’t the right answer.
One more thing that makes a big difference: your home routine. A monthly facial paired with a consistent at-home routine will almost always do more than frequent facials with a routine that isn’t working for your skin. What you do in the weeks between appointments matters just as much as what happens in the treatment room.
The Most Common Thing Holding People Back
The pattern we see most often is the one-off facial.
Someone books a facial before a wedding, a reunion, or a photo shoot. They love the results. Then life gets busy, and they don’t come back for eight months. When the next big event rolls around, they book again and wonder why it feels like they’re starting over.
That’s because, in a lot of ways, they are.
A facial isn’t like a haircut, where the work is finished the moment you leave the chair. A facial starts a process in your skin that continues over the next three to four weeks, and each treatment is meant to build on the last one. When appointments are spaced months apart, every visit ends up being a first visit.
If your budget works better with one facial a season instead of one a month, that’s okay. It’s still better than nothing. Just let us know upfront so we can build a plan around a quarterly schedule and lean a little more on your home routine in between.
A plan you can actually stick with will always beat a perfect plan you give up on after six weeks.
Why We Recommend Monthly Facials
Once you’ve reached your goals, the focus shifts from correcting to maintaining. For most people, monthly is the sweet spot. It lines up with your skin’s natural renewal cycle and lets your esthetician catch changes before they turn into bigger concerns.
That’s exactly why we created our memberships.
Skin Simplified is $197 per month with a three-month minimum. It includes one treatment each month, either a 60-minute bespoke facial, a chemical peel, or a glo2facial, plus 10% off retail and complimentary quarterly NeoSkin treatments, a $300 value.
Skin Essentials is $159 per month with a three-month minimum and includes one customized 45-minute treatment each month, like dermaplaning, oxygen therapy, or a chemical peel.
